Babar Azam Plans to File a Defamation Case Against Ex-Players and YouTubers

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam is considering taking legal action against a number of YouTubers and former players who have openly accused him of wrongdoing during the 2024 T20 World Cup. After Pakistan’s unannounced withdrawal from the competition, Babar was heavily criticized and a social media campaign criticizing his performance and leadership continued.

Babar is actively seeking legal advice amid this dispute to decide the best course of action. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s legal department is carefully gathering evidence to support Babar’s allegations and assist in any future legal proceedings. Public discontent grew and Babar’s captaincy came under increased scrutiny as the team failed to advance to the Super Eight stage, particularly after defeats to the USA and India.

Babar defended his reputation and took legal action in response to mounting criticism, even after the final match against Ireland had no impact on the tournament position.
