The industry for rice aims to increase exports to $10 billion over the next five years. This goal is driven by a steady increase in the amount of rice produced per acre and an increase in the amount of rice available for export. It is estimated that rice exports could total about 4.5 million tons in 2023 and bring in $2.5 billion based on the data that is currently available.
The availability of water and fertilizer, the tenacity of farmers, the research of new markets, and the ideal weather all contributed to the record-breaking production of nine million tonnes. Pakistan has a unique opportunity to sell premium rice at a more affordable price when compared to India because of its increased output of Basmati rice, particularly the premium C1121 strain. By 2025, rice exports are expected to reach $5 billion, and by 2028, they will have increased to $10 billion.
