Govt of Punjab to Provide Free Solar Systems to Customers Using Up to 200 Units

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a new initiative to provide Free Solar Systems to those consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month. The goal of the program is to help reduce high electricity prices resulting from the implementation of new tariff rates from July 1.

The government will provide free solar panels and interest-free loans to those who consume 200-500 units of electricity annually. The government will pay 75 percent of the interest on loans to users of more than 500 units. This means more people, regardless of their usage levels, can get help with their electricity bills.

Registration for this program is currently open. Residents meeting the eligibility requirements will receive information through SMS on how to participate and benefit from this program.

The program seeks to help consumers who are financially struggling to pay their high electricity bills while also encouraging the use of green energy. It shows the government’s commitment to help citizens control their energy costs and explore sustainable energy alternatives. It is expected that this program will significantly improve the lives of many Punjabi households by reducing the cost and increasing access to solar energy.
