A new feature on Meta’s WhatsApp Users that allows users to translate messages from within their chat box. This feature seeks to facilitate communication for all users, especially those with different linguistic backgrounds, by helping them interpret communications in languages they may not be familiar with.
According to sources, language packs will be used to facilitate this translation feature. By using these packs, users will be able to read messages written in languages other than their own. The fact that the translation process will take place directly on the user’s device is an essential detail. It ensures privacy by not sending messages to outside servers.
First, this feature will work with languages including Hindi, Arabic and English. In further upgrades, Meta plans to add additional languages, though. Users must download the required language pack to use the translation feature.
This functionality is currently being developed specifically for Android phones. This is expected to significantly increase the ease of communication and accessibility for WhatsApp users worldwide.
