Parts of Karachi Are Shaken by an Earthquake.

A minor earthquake was felt in a few locations in Karachi on May 2, 2024, including Gadap Town, Katohar, and the surrounding Malir district. On the Richter scale, it registered as 2.3.

The epicenter for the event was 38 kilometers northeast of Malir, according to the seismic monitoring center. It was 84 kilometers below the surface. It began to shake at 5:52 p.m. local time.

Fortunately, nobody was harmed and nothing was destroyed. In a little more than a week, the Malir district has had two minor earthquakes. On April 24, there was an additional one with a measurement of 3.2.

Pakistan is prone to earthquakes due to its location near the meeting point of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. The recent earthquakes serve as a reminder of how crucial it is to prepare for emergencies and work toward lessening their effects.
